A puzzle remake for C64

The Machinations (Commodore 64) is a free-to-play puzzle game created for the Commodore 64 console. This is a retro remake of the mobile game The Sequence developed by One Man Band. The C64 version retains the core gameplay mechanic while translating the video and audio into 8-bit and chiptune, respectively.

If you are a fan of retro games and have a C64 emulator, The Machinations (Commodore 64) is a great way to pass the time. It seems simple but actually gets increasingly difficult. Other classic games for the old console include Pillars (C64) or Space Firehawk (C64).

What to expect from The Machinations

A fun part of The Machinations (Commodore 64) is that it tries to create a metaphysical experience. Aside from the giveaway home screen, you basically try to run your C64 console when it fails to, showing an error report. It is now up to you to devise your own Machinations and restore your Commodore 64, one binary cell at a time.

The puzzle features a 7x7 grid which will require you to place different modules. To complete a level, you have to place modules of the right polarity and orientation to connect the source to the target position. It starts out easy but gets gradually harder, mostly due to the introduction of more blocking cells that can ruin your perfectly laid-out modules.

As a ROM file, however, you can’t run this file by itself. You will need to have either a physical Commodore 64 console, which was officially discontinued in the early 90s, or have a C64 emulator. For new players, though, the download package comes with a manual and a link to a tutorial video that makes it a lot easier to get started with the game.

A fun, retro challenge

For puzzle fans, especially those who tried the original One Man Band game, The Machinations (Commodore 64) is a worthy port, making it accessible for fans of retro gaming. It perfectly translates the challenging logic puzzler into an 8-bit, chiptune video game. While it can’t run on itself, it comes with all the reference materials you need to get started. Highly recommended.

Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
